Change Character Delay on Procare Touch Computer

This article explains how to change the character delay on Procare Touch Computers. This may be necessary to resolve issues with the built-in card reader not properly reading credit cards and other cards with a magnetic stripe.

1. Download and install the MagSwipe Configuration Utility on your Procare Touch Computer (link below).

2. Reboot and run the MagSwipe Configuration Utility.
3. Choose Select Reader Interface (image below).
   
4. Answer the question “How is the reader connected to the host?” by choosing the keyboard connection (item #4, image above).
5. Click Continue (image above).
6. Click on Change Basic Reader Settings (image below).
   
7. Change the Inter-Character Delay to 10 ms (image above).
8. Click on Send to MSR (image above).
9. Close the program and test the card reader. You may have to reboot for the changes to take effect.
