Dual Sorting Grid Screen Views

Article Summary

This article explains how to use two column headers to sort the order of records displayed on various grid screens in Procare, such as the Daily Meal Tracker, Batch Post Time Card (children and employees) and others.

Overview

There are several batch processing screens in Procare that allow you to perform a primary and secondary sort of the records by the headers in the screen display. This can make entering information easier, following your preferred work flow. For example, when posting meals, you may wish to sort first by classroom, then by name.

How Can I Tell Which Headers I Can Use?

When you click a header, if you can sort by that column, you will see a small arrow appear, pointing either up or down indicating whether the sort is ascending order or descending order, and the records will re-order themselves. To sort in the opposite order, just click the header again. Some screens automatically sort by name, such as the Batch Post Time Card screen:

indicated by the small up arrow showing in the Classroom header.

Dual Sort

To sort by two headers, click the primary sort header first, then hold down the SHIFT key, and click the secondary sort header. In this example for the Meal Tracker you see how to use the child’s classroom as the primary sort with the child’s last name as the secondary sort. Records then show on the screen grouped the child’s last name, within each classroom:

After clicking the Classroom header, records are grouped by classroom:

NOTE: The small funnel that appears in the header allows you to Filter records, say to process one classroom at a time.

When you hold down the SHIFT key and click the Last Name column header, the classroom sort stays in place but records within each classroom are sorted by the child’s last name:
