Installation

Article summary

Can I install Procare on a different drive or to a different folder?

Procare is always installed to the Program Files folder whose location is controlled by Windows. This is almost always C:\Program Files. Although it is possible to change the default Program Files location, Microsoft strongly recommends against it. This is beyond the scope of Procare Support and may cause unexpected and unsupportable consequences.

See: Microsoft Q/A for Windows 7 and Changing Program Files Directory for Windows Vista.

Can I move the Procare folder to another location besides ''Program Files''?

Although you could move the Procare folder, we strongly discourage doing so. You may be able to run Procare itself, but online updates expect Procare to be inside the Windows “Program Files” directory. You may also experience unexpected results in other areas of the program and make trouble shooting considerably more difficult. Please DO NOT move the Procare folder, or any of its contents, from the expected location of: C:\Program Files\Procare

My installation screen disappeared. What can I do?

We have found that deleting the unlocked files in the C:\Users\insert-your-username\AppData\Local\Temp directory will clear the issue up. Please note the following:

  • Replace “insert-your-username” with your actual username for Windows.
  • The Temp folder is usually hidden.
  • Only the contents of the temp folder should be deleted, not the folder itself.

Contact your local computer technician if you need assistance or have concerns.

What is my Installation Key Number and where do I find it?

Your Installation Key Number (sometimes referred to as your IKN) is used to determine the number of seats and licenses you have available for Procare. You’ll need it the first time you install and any time you contact support for assistance.

The Installation Key number is found:

  • In your Welcome to Procare email.
  • Or, if you already have Procare installed, you’ll find it in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
