Payroll Topics
Overview: Payroll is the module where withholdings and allowances are set up for each employee and where paychecks are calculated and printed. You may also generate tax deposit reports and other payroll reporting information.
Direct Deposit for employee paychecks allows centers to avoid printing and physically distributing live checks to employees. Direct deposit is an easy way to have your payroll checks deposited directly into each employee’s checking or savings account.
How to Verify the Correct Amounts are Being Withheld
You may compare the amount withheld in Procare to the IRS Publication 15 – Circular E.
Can I Run Payroll Using Tax Tables from Last Year?
Yes. Don’t worry if you need to do your first payroll or two (after a change is made) with the old tax tables. The difference over a couple of paychecks is negligible and will be made up when each employee files their own tax returns the following year. Generally there is no effect on the employer’s share of taxes.

Why do FICA-SS and FICA-MC Show Zeros on Tax Reports?
Social Security (FICA-SS) and Medicare (FICA-MC) will be displayed as ZEROS on the Tax Deposit and 941 reports if you have not yet updated your tax formulas for the New Year.

When are the New Tax Tables Available
New tax table formulas are typically available for download sometime during the first week of January. If you have previously installed tax tables for another year a password will be required.

How to Make a Withholding Pre-Taxed or Exempt
A pretax withholding, sometimes referred to as pre-taxed or tax exempt, means the amount is deducted from gross pay prior to taxes being calculated. The amount withheld is not taxed.
